Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Med/Surg Telemetry RN with potential to float to units J1-2, J33, and Emergency Department caring for the same patient population.
- Rotating shifts: 3x12-hour shifts (Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM / Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM). Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years, with experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption submitted.
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive, with annual TB questionnaire if applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination with agency-approved exemptions
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative/equivocal
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency approval)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
Background and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Comprehensive background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) under nursing code 4723.09. Fingerprints must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Primary source verification of RN license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before testing).
- Baseline competency exams during orientation: medication administration (SafeMedicate) with 90% passing score and ECG interpretation with 80% passing score. Retakes and remediation provided if needed.
- Completion of all required modules and passing orientation exams required before badge pickup and clearance to start.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must submit a physical exam, immunization records, and all required documentation prior to start.
- Candidates with gaps longer than 30 days between assignments may need to update physical and eye exams.
- Travel experience in Med/Surg Telemetry is required or will satisfy recent experience requirement.
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed.
- Must be willing to work at least every other holiday.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent clinical and travel experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in Ohio with rotating 12-hour shifts.
