Description
Cath Lab Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN with a minimum of 3 years of Cath Lab experience. The role involves working normal business hours with call requirements.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Call required one night per week and every 4th weekend (details depend on skill set)
Unit & Patient Details
- Cath Lab: Diagnostic and PCI (Level 2 lab)
- EP Lab: Device changeouts, upgrades, ICD, pacer
- Vascular Angiogram
- Interventional Radiology (simple procedures)
Patient Diagnoses:
- Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), STEMI, NSTEMI
- Electrophysiology (EP) devices
- Heart arrhythmias
- Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
Special Equipment:
- Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), temporary pacer
- Shockwave, DFR, IVUS, FFR
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years Cath Lab nursing experience
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted; letter of completion not accepted)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- CCI RCIS certification preferred but not required
Background & Credentialing Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 90 days of start)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting using specific code (3701.881) required within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service >90 days or results older than 1 year
- Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
- High school diploma or GED verification required
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Competency & Certification Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual test
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
- Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; signed declination acceptable
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Facility Policies & Training
- Annual acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Annual ethics and compliance policy review and acknowledgment
- Confidential fraud, waste, and abuse reporting mechanism form required
