Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Marysville, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Primarily assigned to the Medical/Surgical floor.
• May assist in the Emergency Room as needed if experienced.
• Work schedule: 3 nights per week, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
• Facility is a 26-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) with an active ER.
• Charge nurse experience preferred; may serve as charge nurse on some night shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas.
• Minimum 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Prior travel nursing experience.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire.
• Required immunizations or titers:

  • Measles (Rubeola) – titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low titer.
  • Mumps – titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low titer.
  • Rubella – titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low titer.
  • Hepatitis B – titer, vaccine series, or declination.
  • Varicella – titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low titer.
  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) required for all travelers.
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); declinations accepted.
• COVID-19 vaccination required; declinations not accepted unless approved medical or religious exemption.

Dress Code

• Scrubs allowed any color during orientation.
• Post-orientation: solid color scrubs preferred.

Additional Information

• Locals accepted for this travel position.
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 1 year of start and updated annually.
• State-specific exclusion list checks required for Kansas and Missouri.

Summary

This travel Registered Nurse position offers night shifts primarily on a Medical/Surgical floor in a Critical Access Hospital setting with occasional ER support. Candidates must have at least 1 year of RN experience, prior travel experience, and relevant certifications including ACLS and BLS. Immunization and health screenings are strictly required, along with comprehensive background checks and documentation. Charge nurse experience is a plus.
