Location: Olney, Illinois

Job Summary

The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography (CT) procedures using various imaging equipment and contrast materials. Responsibilities include preparing and administering contrast materials, acquiring and processing patient exams, and ensuring imaging quality and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures and assigned invasive procedures according to protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
• Independently perform multiplanar reformats and 3D rendered images.
• Review cases with radiologists as appropriate.
• Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
• Administer IV contrast material via existing IV lines or by performing veni-puncture and IV placement.
• Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions to contrast.
• Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy, including patient history and clinical data for medical necessity.
• Transfer and verify image data in PACS and provide necessary clinical information for radiologist interpretation.
• Maintain imaging equipment and work environment, including supply inventories and reporting malfunctions promptly.
• Assist in instruction of students and new staff as needed.
• May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
• May perform duties in other licensed imaging modalities within the department as cross-trained.

Required Qualifications

• Valid CT Technologist license in Illinois
• Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography in Illinois (IEMA)
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Diploma obtained in a related field or Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology

Additional Information

• Must be registered in two radiologic modalities to qualify as a level 2 technologist.
• Productivity levels must meet department benchmarks.
• Responsible for patient, visitor, and environmental safety, including immediate reporting of safety events or near misses.
