Job Opportunity: RN Oncology

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM


Job Description

Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology providing patient care during the night shift.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • MOAB Moderate Risk training

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Professional documents required for submission:
    • Resume/Profile
    • Two professional references
    • Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
  • Background and verification checks required prior to start and updated annually or after breaks in service:
    • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry
    • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check
    • Employment verification for past 7 years
    • Education verification relevant to clinical work
  • Health and immunization requirements:
    • Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
    • MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
    • Tdap: valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Influenza vaccine: optional; if declined during flu season, mask required
    • TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual questionnaire; if positive, chest X-ray within 1 year required
    • Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be done onsite)
    • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Drug screening:
    • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Competency and skills assessments:
    • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score
    • Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score
    • Ascension Skills Checklist for clinical specialty, updated annually
    • Cerner Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation
  • Onboarding training and attestations:
    • Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
    • Education Attestation (pre-hire 6-hour module)
    • Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules
    • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training

Additional Notes

  • Some documents and trainings must be updated every 1 to 3 years or upon contract extension.
  • Certain optional documents include unit-specific checklists and hiring manager evaluations.
  • Badge photo required: forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.

This position requires thorough compliance with health, safety, and professional standards to ensure quality oncology nursing care during the night shift.
