Description
MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Akron, Ohio
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Work Schedule:
- Mondays: 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM (mix of inpatient and outpatient)
- Weekends (Saturday and Sunday): 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (mostly outpatient)
Equipment:
- Primarily GE 3T Discovery 750W MRI
- May also scan on Siemens Sola 1.5T
Required Qualifications
- MRI Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience
- MRI Technologist experience within the last year
Compliance and Onboarding Requirements
Background Checks & Fingerprinting
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Comprehensive background check prior to start, including:
- FCRA-compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Fingerprints must be completed under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
- MRI Techs can start with agency fingerprint results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Facility will conduct their own fingerprinting onsite as well
Certifications & Competencies
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone)
- Photo for badge required prior to start
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M 1860 small/regular or 1870+ masks)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold/T-Spot) within 6 months of start; chest x-ray required if prior positive TB test
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case; religious exemptions not accepted)
- Immunizations required with official documentation:
- Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination documented
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 – Mar 31); declinations not accepted
- 10-panel drug screen required annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Employment History & References
- Application must include 3 years of prior work history, including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar specialty area
- Two professional references within 1 year of start required from a manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID at all times during assignment
- Modules and onboarding must be completed prior to clearance to start; delays in module completion may delay start date
- Travelers returning to the facility after a break longer than 6 months must complete onboarding modules again
- Legal name must be used consistently in all onboarding systems
- Facility covers cost of up to 4 hours of module time; additional time is not covered
This position offers a structured schedule with weekend work primarily focused on outpatient imaging and requires compliance with extensive onboarding, health, and credentialing standards typical for MRI technologists in a hospital setting.
