Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
- Must have recent and permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Knowledge and certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Work Requirements
- Must work at least every other holiday during the assignment.
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification).
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption submitted.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed.
- Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemption.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted).
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome and cannot be skipped.
- Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed during orientation; remediation and retake offered if needed.
- PBDS Assessment waived for this role.
Documentation & History
- Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history, with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Government-issued photo ID required on assignment.
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months at this facility may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams.
- Candidates must use their legal name consistently on all documentation and onboarding systems.
- Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable working night shifts, and meeting comprehensive health and compliance requirements.
