MRI Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work with patient population ranging from adolescents to geriatrics.
  • Work settings include inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room (ER).
  • Operate 1 MRI room with required skills in PACS and contrast administration.
  • Utilize unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, GE.
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (9:30 AM to 6:00 PM).
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.
  • Possible floating to a nearby main campus.
  • Call requirement: 1 call week every 5th week in rotation.
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it.
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both.
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them.
  • Return to office (RTO) maximum 7 days.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist within the last year.
  • Experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) - Radiography (R) certification required.

Compliance & Screening

  • Full compliance with all credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time. Delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to orientation scheduling.
  • Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final approval.

Orientation & Training

  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks, 19 hours for 19 weeks).

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry check
    • Education verification of related degree or certification
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • Physical exam required within 12 months prior to start.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; if previously positive, additional documentation required. TB questionnaire required annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
  • Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable.

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months.
  • Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • Two clinical references required.
  • Must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.

  • This position requires working in a Caribbean Blue scrub color.
  • Candidates must be prepared to work major holidays as outlined.
  • Floating to other nearby campuses may be required.
