Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Med/Surg Telemetry RN with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
  • Rotating shifts: 3x12-hour shifts (either night 7pm–7:30am or day 7am–7:30pm). Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Current certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background check required prior to start, including a 7-year FCRA-compliant search and education verification. Must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing, valid within 12 months, and updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions. Latex allergy notification required if applicable.
  • Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually. Religious or medical exemptions must be approved.
  • Immunization and health document requirements include:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
    • Snellen eye exam within 1 year
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Modules include training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out access.
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication competency exam during orientation.
  • Baseline competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation (passing scores: 90% medication, 80% ECG). Retakes and remediation offered if needed.
  • Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous assignment at the facility may be exempt from some orientation testing.

Documentation & History

  • Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area.
  • Two professional references required from recent employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for potential shift rotation and holiday work.
  • Fingerprinting and background checks are critical and must be completed timely to avoid delays.
  • Compliance with all health and immunization requirements is mandatory for assignment start and continuation.
  • Facility reserves the right to adjust shift assignments based on operational needs.
