Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Telemetry)

Location: Wilson, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work on a Telemetry unit with 22 beds, serving adult and geriatric patients.
• Patient ratios typically 5:1 or 6:1.
• No call requirements.
• Shift options: 7 AM or 7 PM.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours.
• Weekend hours: 12 hours every other or every third weekend.
• Float requirements apply (may be asked to work on Med/Surg overflow).
• Electronic Health Record system: Meditech EMR.
• Equipment used includes Welch Allyn Vitals machine, Hoyer Lift with weight scale, Abbott Glucometer, Computers on Wheels, TR band, Baxter IV pumps.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg nursing experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with Meditech preferred.
• EKG interpretation and critical thinking skills are a plus.
• Ability to manage discharges and admissions.
• Basic knowledge of cardiac drips.

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Chest Pain (CP)
• Acute Renal Failure (ARF)
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
• Post Cardiac Catheterization care

Work Environment and Culture

• Team-oriented and flexible personality fit preferred.
• Supervision by Clinical Staff Lead or Charge Nurse.
• Dress code: Scrub color not assigned; artificial nails are not acceptable.

• Orientation sessions held bi-weekly with upcoming start dates available.
• Facility is Joint Commission Accredited with specialties including cancer care, cardiac care, orthopedics, imaging, and surgical services.
• Located 45 miles east of Raleigh, NC, near major universities and recreational areas.
