Job Description

Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts using the nursing process and current nursing practices.
Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implement, evaluate, and modify nursing interventions and patient care procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Identify personal learning needs and pursue professional development.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

Provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients.
Monitor and care for patients with new tracheostomies.
Manage wounds requiring wound vac therapy and other complex wound care.
Assess, manage, and educate patients and families on new ostomies.
Collaborate with surgical and oral maxillofacial surgery residency teams.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
