Registered Nurse (RN) – Main Conv Care Plus
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours: 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.
- Utilize a systematic nursing approach including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Administer medications via multiple routes (IM, PO, Rectal, IV, SQ, Inhaled).
- Perform procedures such as ear washes, nebulizer treatments, peak flows, splint applications, crutch training, wound care, point of care testing, IV starts and therapy, vision screenings, EKGs, catheterizations, and suture/staple removal.
- Assist providers with vaginal exams, suture/staple placement, and incision and drainage.
- Participate as a member of the Code Team when needed.
- Serve as nurse lead when assigned during shifts.
- Act as preceptor for new employees and support healthcare student development.
- Provide patient education and conduct waiting room and exam room rounding.
- Collect and process specimens.
- Provide patients with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow-up as directed by providers.
- Assist with prescription medication refills per department protocols, including calling medications into pharmacies and notifying patients.
- Maintain department-specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
- Perform telephone triage and communicate test results to patients via phone and electronic messaging systems.
- Room patients by collecting chief complaint, vital signs, and medication reconciliation upon arrival.
- Clean instruments and maintain documentation accuracy.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of clinic nursing experience
- Clinic experience within the last year
- Ambulatory care experience
