Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:00)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: Possible with manager approval
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
  • Experience with PICC line management
  • Experience with starting IVs

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
  • Background checks within 30 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace, National Criminal, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
    • Illinois-specific searches: Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
  • Education verification (initial degree)
  • Fingerprinting completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start (for clinical candidates without IL license)
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Photo for badge (color, plain background) within one week of signing
  • Code of Conduct acknowledgment within 7 days of contract signing
  • Parking permit form to be completed within 7 days of contract signing (if applicable)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate healthcare provider, confirming ability to perform job functions
  • Fit mask test required (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks acceptable)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer for Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive titer or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccine series or positive titer or signed declination
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by November 30 annually

References & Skills

  • Two professional references required for all direct travel, allied, per diem, and acute care clinical candidates
  • Skills checklist required for all clinical and allied candidates

  • First-time travel nurses accepted

  • Facility accommodates latex allergies
  • Candidate must comply with all documentation and credentialing requirements prior to start

This position is ideal for a CVICU RN with at least one year of experience seeking a travel contract in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital. Night shift availability and flexibility to float are required.
