Description
Registered Nurse – ER Holding (Night Shift)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Patient Population
- Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week
- 12 hours per shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Staffing Ratio
- 1 nurse to 4 patients
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Current RN license valid in Ohio
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accreditation required)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications (AHA provider/instructor or RQI accepted; letter of completion not accepted)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG exams
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending results)
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual test
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1–3/31) with mask requirement if declined
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio code 3701.881), EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership)
- Employment application and skills checklist required prior to start

- Telemetry and dysrhythmia management
- PCU/Stepdown care experience
- IV insulin and heparin protocols
- Renal failure management
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip management including titration
- Blood product administration
- Tracheostomy care
- Rapid response team utilization
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, oxygen therapy)
- EPIC electronic health record documentation
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to start; pending fingerprint attestations accepted under specific conditions
