Description

Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Shift: Night shift, either 4 consecutive 12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15) or 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts
  • Average Daily Census: 24 patients (24 rooms/beds)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Schedule: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
  • Locals accepted with no radius restrictions

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of Oncology nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks including:
    • Criminal, sex offender, SSN trace, counties, states, FACIS Level 3
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
    • Illinois-specific searches (Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, State Police registries) within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification required (official or unofficial transcripts accepted if pending)
  • Primary source verification of state license and certifications (e.g., NURSYS for RN)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted), not completed onsite
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella) or signed declinations
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (negative dilute results require retest)
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
  • Badge photo required within one week of contract signing
  • Code of Conduct review and signature within 7 days of contract signing
  • Parking permit form to be completed within 7 days of contract signing (if applicable)
  • References: Two professional references required for clinical travel candidates
  • Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates

Additional Notes

  • No on-call requirement
  • Candidate may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for candidates without an IL state license; results added to Illinois Department of Public Health registry
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies
