CT Technologist
Location: North Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately)
Job Summary
- Perform computerized tomography (CT) scans of designated anatomical areas under the supervision of certified radiologists.
- Assist radiologists during procedures and supervise student Radiologic Technologists.
- Maintain good patient and customer relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patient care and safety during imaging procedures using age-appropriate care and established protocols.
- Obtain correct written orders for procedures and efficiently manage patient care assignments.
- Minimize repeat examinations through efficient use of imaging equipment and supplies.
- Prepare and instruct patients on imaging procedures; assist with informed consent and communicate discharge instructions to family members.
- Verify correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history in the computer system; communicate effectively with radiologists and maintain professionalism.
- Adhere to hospital, departmental, and safety policies, including radiation safety following ALARA principles and regulatory guidelines (DHEC, TJC).
- Complete annual mandatory in-services and maintain current licensure.
- Assist other imaging team members and departments as needed; demonstrate flexibility, accountability, and initiative to improve operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients.
- Intermittent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and reaching with hands/arms.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, toxic or caustic chemicals, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and call shifts.
- Noise level ranges from quiet to moderate.
Schedule
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
- 2-3 call shifts every 6 weeks requiring float to other facilities.
- Must also perform X-ray duties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid license as a CT Technologist.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform and teach CT exams to produce diagnostic-quality images preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
