Shift Details

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 07:00)
• Will work every other weekend

Unit and Patient Census

• Medical-Surgical / Telemetry unit
• 30-bed unit with an average daily census of 19 patients

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Telemetry experience with a minimum of 3 years, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with use of Rapid Response Teams
• Proficient in IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Feeding tube care and management experience
• Ability to titrate vasoactive drips
• Experience caring for CVA patients
• Experience with total joint replacements
• Skilled in respiratory support including external CPAP/BIPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Licensure and Certifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required (AHA or RQI acceptable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or RQI acceptable)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred but not required

Scheduling and Work Conditions

• Floating within scope of practice may be required if census is low
• Open to discussing block schedule requests with manager
• Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
• No on-call requirement

• Critical Access Hospital
• 25 staffed beds
• Charting system: Cerner
• Parking permit required but no cost

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• State-specific criminal and offender registry searches required within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of licensure and certifications
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Physical exam within one year of start, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year of start
• Immunization or documented immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
• Badge photo required prior to start
• Code of conduct acknowledgment required
• Parking permit form to be completed within 7 days of contract signing
• References: Two professional references required for clinical travel candidates
• Skills checklist required for clinical candidates

Additional Notes

• Candidates may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois for candidates without an Illinois license providing direct care
• Time off requests and schedule accommodations to be discussed with manager

This position is suitable for RNs with strong telemetry and medical-surgical experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a critical access hospital setting.
