Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Saturday: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- Total hours per week: 40 hours
Job Description
- Work with inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients
- Use of GE, PACS, Siemens imaging systems required
- Experience with C-arm, portable abdomen, and chest imaging required
- Pediatric/PICU experience required
- Scrubs color: Black
- Open to first-time travelers and local candidates
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings
- X-Ray Technician experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license (must be provided within 48 hours of signing)
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (including alias and multi-level searches)
- E-Verify clearance
- Various state and federal exclusion list checks within 30 days of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility requirements
- Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Immunization proof or positive titer for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start (annual update required)
- Color vision test if job tasks require color discrimination
- Completion of facility-specific annual education and safety training
- References: Two within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Work history verification for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start, allowing 30-day gaps)
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or equivalent required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Preferred but not mandatory for this role
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required for pediatric areas (PICU, ED, Peds)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Not required
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required if applicable
- IV Therapy/Infusion competency exam required for RNs (not applicable for this role)
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required
- Annual CEUs as applicable (stroke, trauma, surgical tech, etc.)
Additional Requirements
- Black scrubs required on shift
- Must complete facility floating policy for every new assignment
- Must complete annual education sign-off prior to start
- Must complete Respiratory Safety Questionnaire and clearance via designated platform ($22 cost)
- Must complete Fit Test Questionnaire within 48 hours of confirmation
- Must comply with facility-specific policies on latex allergy screening and accommodations
- Must complete any required facility-specific orientation and competency attestations

- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome
- Candidate’s legal name on license and documents must match or have proof of name change on file
- Candidates with positive TB history require additional medical clearance documentation
- Candidates must be able to pass all required background and drug screenings without open cases
- Facility provides CAPR respirators if needed for those unable to shave or who fail fit test for N95
