Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
  • Shift Hours: Varying start times between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM; end times between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: PET/CT scans may be performed on Saturdays if needed (e.g., equipment downtime or backlog)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
  • Trauma Level: Preference for experience in Level 1 and II trauma centers
  • Equipment Experience: Siemens scanners required
  • Radiation Badge: Must be provided by the agency; facility does not supply radiation badges

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NMTCB (N) or ARRT (N) certification
  • NMTCB (CT) or ARRT (R) or ARRT (CT) certification

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit mask test with specific N95 masks required; refusal to shave or provide own PAPR may result in cancellation
  • Immunizations and titers required or accepted:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Facility and Orientation Information

  • Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
  • Total staffed beds: 865
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub color: Teal top / Black pants
  • Parking: Paid parking at nights and weekends only (one-time $20 pass)
  • Orientation modules and first day instructions (FDI) must be completed prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home
  • Passport-style badge photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
  • During hurricane season (June-November), employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; travelers should consider this before accepting or extending assignments

  • Locals within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care without receiving their badge

  • Various competency exams and certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
