Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg (LTAC) – Illinois
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Med Surg Unit with 10 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Patient types: respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, cardiac patients
- Common skills required: PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline care, tracheostomy care
- RNs are required to titrate drips (e.g., Heparin)
- Respiratory therapy equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow; RNs troubleshoot but RT manages equipment
- Telemetry monitored by dedicated techs; RNs do not read their own strips
- Charge nurse not assigned patients; house supervisor available 24/7
- Nurse aides/patient care techs present with a 1:10 ratio
Shift & Scheduling
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend and to fill holes
- Holiday rotation and to fill holes
- No current call or standby requirement (subject to change)
- Self-scheduling or block scheduling not specified
Orientation
- 12 hours of non-billable classroom orientation per policy
- 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
Dress Code
- Scrubs only
- Only approved t-shirts allowed (any color)
- Scrubs provided
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience within the last year
- Med Surg nursing experience
- Proficient in PEG tube care and feedings
- Skilled in CVC, PICC, and Midline catheter usage and care
- Experienced in tracheostomy patient care
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
