Job Description
- Seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN for a travel contract.
- Role involves admitting and recovering patients undergoing left and right heart catheterizations, complex PCI, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and peripheral vascular procedures (including hybrid or combined cases such as AAA).
- Work in a busy multimodality Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery unit.
- Facility is a brand new campus opened in December 2020.
- The position is open due to expansion of services, not staff resignations.
- Team is welcoming to travelers.
Work Schedule
- Recovery unit open Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM.
- Common shifts: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, and 1:00 PM–9:30 PM.
- 10-hour shifts, approximately 40 hours per week.
- Call required 4-7 days per month by sign-up.
- Call response time: 60 minutes required, 30 minutes preferred.
- Call hours:
- Weekday nights: 9:30 PM–5:00 AM
- Weekend days: 5:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Weekend nights: 5:00 PM–5:00 AM
- Holidays: on-call only, otherwise off.
- Floating only in emergency situations.
- Charge nurse and 16 staff RNs work various shifts daily.
Patient Care Environment
- 22-23 bays total (16 beds plus radial and recovery lounges).
- Central monitoring in pre/post-op.
- No ventilator care required.
- 24/7 cardiologist on call.
- 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support with code support.
- IV team (SWAT) available but not needed in unit; pre-op nurses and Cath Lab staff proficient in ultrasound IV starts.
- EMR system: EPIC; medication dispensing: PYXIS.
- Hospital-issued surgical attire provided.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience with admit/recovery experience.
- Active Washington RN license or Compact license; pending license acceptable with temp license processing (~4 weeks).
- Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS.
Orientation and Training
- Floor-specific orientation less than 1 week if competent.
