Description

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Float Pool only, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift, nights, every other weekend (36 hours/week)


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care using specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Care is culturally based and age-specific, following the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to deliver patient- and family-centered care.

Responsibilities

Assessment

  • Perform holistic assessments of patients’ physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs.
  • Recognize and report abnormal data and changes in patient condition.
  • Communicate pertinent patient information effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Assess safety risks for patients, families, and environment; implement safety initiatives.

Diagnosis and Planning

  • Establish and prioritize individualized patient problems and needs.
  • Develop and revise multidisciplinary care plans collaboratively with patients and families.
  • Set measurable goals for each patient problem.
  • Communicate care plans using SBAR and handoff processes.
  • Initiate discharge planning upon admission and make appropriate referrals.

Implementation

  • Provide evidence-based, quality nursing care adhering to hospital policies and standards.
  • Perform and delegate nursing actions responsibly, demonstrating critical thinking.
  • Deliver individualized patient and family education.
  • Respond skillfully to emergency situations.
  • Implement infection control and safety measures.

Evaluation

  • Continuously evaluate nursing practice and patient outcomes against evidence-based standards and care plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma of Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Licensure: Ohio RN license or Compact RN license
  • Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide age- and culturally-specific care and education.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Commitment to professional growth and competence.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in culturally diverse settings.

Additional Information

  • This position is specifically for the Float Pool.
  • Night shifts only, with a schedule of 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend.
  • No preferred certifications beyond those required.
  • No prior travel experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Registered Nursing specialty is implied by the specialty code and typical float pool expectations (not explicitly stated but default to standard RN experience).
