Description
Respiratory Therapist Travel Assignment
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Job Overview
- Travel assignment for a Respiratory Therapist (RRT preferred, CRT considered)
- Start ASAP
- Work primarily with adult patients; some pediatric patients in the ER
- Patient care includes CRRT, IABP, CABG/AVR/MVR, TAVR, lung surgeries
- Coverage across all areas: Inpatient, Outpatient, ER, Rehab, Sleep Lab
- Draw arterial blood gases (ABGs) and occasionally perform EKGs
- Assist with intubations (not required to intubate independently)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nebraska
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Ability to work night shifts and every 3rd weekend
- Must be able to self-schedule within shift hours (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
Work Environment & Scheduling
- 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend
- Holiday shifts rotate with permanent staff
- Call or standby call is not typically required; if called, response time is 30 minutes
- Department orientation lasts 2 days
- Respiratory Manager available Monday-Friday; lead therapist typically available
- Dress code: Maroon/Wine burgundy scrubs
Equipment & Resources
- Ventilators and respiratory equipment brands: Drager, LTV, I-vent, V-60, Vapotherm
- Hospitalist and intensivist coverage 24/7
- Personal protective equipment includes PAPR, CAPR, and N95 masks
Additional Notes
- Patient load: approximately 40-50 treatments per day
- Emphasis on self-care and coping mechanisms for stressful days is part of the interview process
