Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (may vary between 7a-3:30p, 8a-4p, or 9a-5p; exact times discussed during interview)
- Hours per week: 40 hours (5 days x 8 hours)
- No regular weekend shifts unless called in
- On-call requirements:
- 1-2 weekday call shifts per week after shift until 7 AM
- 1-2 weekend calls every 6 weeks (24-hour coverage on Saturday and Sunday)
- Hour response time when on call
- Potential call on Labor Day
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Endoscopy nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+), valid within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required with official documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Annual flu vaccination documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
Background and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required (must carry while on assignment)
- Comprehensive background check prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, county/state/nationwide checks
- National sex offender registry
- Education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Documentation and Onboarding
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar area
- Two professional references from within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
- Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation during orientation (90% and 80% passing scores respectively)
- Resume/CV with 10 years work history required only for certain advanced roles (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for call shifts and respond within one hour when called
- Facility accommodates latex allergies; notification required to ensure latex-free gloves stocked
- Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review
- Candidates with breaks in employment longer than 6 months may need to repeat onboarding modules and competency exams
