Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Assignment
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Facility Type: 6-bed ICU unit within a 47-bed acute care hospital
- Patient Population: All ages
- Patient Ratio: 2:1
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed, typically 40 hours/week
- Weekend Hours: Alternating weekends
- Call Requirements: As needed; must be within 30 minutes of the hospital when on call
- Float Requirements: May be required to float to Medsurg, ER, or other units
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience with ventilator management
- Ability to titrate continuous medications
- Must complete New Mexico state fingerprinting and background check prior to hire; a 14-day supervised waiver period is allowed while results are pending (except for physicians)
Skills and Experience
- Must have experience with ventilator management
- Ability to titrate continuous medications
- Skilled in managing critically ill ICU patients
- Preferred: Prior ICU experience
Work Environment and Culture
- Electronic Health Record system: Medhost Clinicals
- Professional demeanor required
- Dress code: Scrubs of any color; casual wear is not acceptable
Additional Notes
- Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
