Nuclear Medicine Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Schedule:
    • Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (start times vary between 6:00 AM and 9:30 AM; flexibility required)
    • Optional 10-hour shifts during holiday weeks
    • One evening shift and one Saturday shift per month
  • No on-call duties
  • Approximately 33 PET/CT scans daily, including whole-body FDG, brain, cardiac, and neuroendocrine imaging
  • Cases mostly oncology-related
  • Work with 2 PET/CT scanners
  • Steady weekday schedule with federal holidays off
  • Supportive team environment
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Ohio
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • ARRT or NMTCB certification
  • Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Proficient in IV starts

Required Background and Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification for Nuclear Medicine programs
  • Proof of fingerprinting completion required (physical receipt or card images depending on location)
  • Background acknowledgement form for subcontractors prior to start
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tdap vaccination (adult dose after age 11/12) required; exemptions not allowed for those working with infants or pregnant patients
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation)
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining

Certifications and Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for RNs (not applicable for this Nuclear Medicine Tech role)
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgement required annually
  • State license verification within 30 days of start

References and Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
  • Employment application required, including education verification
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Information

  • Scrubs are not provided; grey scrubs preferred
  • Restricted return-to-office (RTO) for February and March during the contract
  • Fingerprinting results processing may take 1-2 weeks; delays possible if background hits occur
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start

This position offers a structured weekday schedule with no call, supportive team environment, and welcomes first-time travel healthcare professionals.
