Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced ER setting during overnight shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start date (no THC).
• Immunizations and Health:

  • COVID-19 vaccine with booster proof or approved exemption (valid through October 2026).
  • MMR: Proof of two vaccinations or IgG titer.
  • Hepatitis B: Must have started vaccination series prior to start.
  • Influenza vaccine (optional but recommended).
  • Varicella: Proof of vaccination or IgG titer.
  • Tdap: Current vaccine required; declination accepted if no pediatric interaction.
  • TB Test: 2-step PPD or IGRA with chest x-ray if positive (per regional requirements).
• Fit Test: Required prior to onboarding.
• Physical/Health Statement: Documentation from exam within the last year confirming fitness to work.
• Color Vision Test: Required.

Background and Compliance

• Federal, nationwide, and county criminal background check covering the last 7 years, including SSN verification, dated within 30 days of start.
• Iowa-specific criminal history, sex offender, and dependent adult & child abuse registry checks within 30 days of start.
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) and OIG (Office of Inspector General) exclusion checks dated within 30 days of start.
• NSO (National Sex Offender) check dated within 30 days of start.
• Conflict of Interest Disclosure and Code of Conduct forms signed and on file.
• Confidentiality and Information System Security Agreement signed.
• Integrity and Audit Services form signed shortly before start.
• System Access Form completed and uploaded one week before start.
• Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
• Criminal background and screening reports must be uploaded to the credentialing system.

Documentation Required Before Start

• Resume and skills checklist (within the last year).
• Two professional references.
• Specialty competency exam results.
• All required certifications and licenses with scanned copies showing expiration dates.
• Drug screen and immunization records.
• Signed professional and compliance forms as listed above.

• Must attach scanned copies of all certifications and licenses, including front and back of cards where applicable.
• License verification must be dated within 30 days of start and include state verification (e.g., NURSYS for RNs).
• Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement for this position.

This position offers a challenging opportunity for an ER RN with the required certifications and compliance documentation to work overnight shifts on a long-term contract in Iowa.
