Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM), totaling 36 hours/week
- On-Call: Yes, approximately 6-8 calls per month including weekends
- Holiday Requirements: Holiday call may be required
- Local Radius Rule: 60 miles
- Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- CVOR (2 years of experience)
- CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ability to scrub and circulate complex vascular cases

Important Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, statewide and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification is pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up, business casual attire
- Facility-Specific Orientation:
- Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- COVID and Flu vaccination documentation must be uploaded into the facility’s system (COVID vaccines highly preferred but not required; flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Immunity or vaccination proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (boosters required if low titer)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Radiation Badge: Required for CVOR RNs; candidates cannot start without it. Badge processing may take 5-7 days.
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency exam and general competency exam required
Additional Notes
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months are August and September.
- Facility may call off traveler for 1 shift per 2-week pay period.
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at the time of contract start; certifications expiring within 30 days of start are not accepted.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but first-timers are not preferred.
