Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapist)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Total Hours: 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only)
Background Checks & Verifications
- Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/school
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification via transcript, diploma, or equivalent
- Sex offender search required
- Employment application required
- Two professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care candidates
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Fire Card issued by an LAFD-approved instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start (Blue card only; Red card not accepted)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (if applicable)
- Competency exams as required by profession
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (not applicable for PT)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam clearance within the past year
- Fit mask testing within 12 months prior to start (acceptable masks: 3M Aura 9205+ or 3M 1860 Small)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (QGold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD)
- TB questionnaire within 14 days of start
- Positive titers required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella; low titers require booster; declinations generally not accepted except for Hepatitis B with proof of prior vaccination or negative titer
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (September - March)
- COVID vaccination plus booster or documented declination
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of orientation checklists within first 30 days of assignment (general orientation, unit-specific competency, CORE competency, unit tour)
- Required attestations and agreements including de-escalation modules, arbitration agreement, voluntary meal waiver, access request form, and assault responsive competency (ARC) training within 30 days of start (live 4-hour training, $80 fee)
- Color vision exam (14-plate Ishihara test) required for certain specialties; verify if applicable

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, EFM, STABLE, NIH Stroke Certification, and Maternal Fetal Triage Index are not required for this Physical Therapist role.
