Description
Registered Nurse - MICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Yes
- On-call: No
- Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities as needed (agency staff floats first)
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local candidates: Not accepted
- Local radius: 60 miles
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility in the U.S. (I-9 form and attestation)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
- Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
- Background Check: Must include SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable; completed within 1 year of start
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcripts preferred but not required for clearance at this facility
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Drug Screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance Evaluation: Dated within 12 months of start
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually as applicable
- Radiation Badge: Required only if assigned to OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, or Radiology; not required for MICU
- Photo for badge: Passport-style, frontal view, solid light background
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years or documented declination
- TB Testing:
- 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days of contract start (PPD only for this facility)
- If positive, proof of chest X-ray required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer or vaccine series; declination allowed with documentation)
- Varicella
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but must be documented and submitted by deadline
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; if declined, must complete facility-specific declination form with COVID checkbox checked
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for all patient-facing staff
