Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical (Ortho/Neuro)
Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Patient Ratio: 1:6-8
- Shift: Nights (4E Nights)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Medical/Surgical nursing experience specifically in Orthopedics and Neurology (Ortho/Neuro)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Completion of pharmacology and medical-surgical competency exams with a minimum passing score of 80% (max 2 attempts).
- Completion of EKG exam with a minimum passing score of 80% (max 2 attempts).
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics within the last year, updated every 3 years.
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be done onsite).
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual questionnaire; chest x-ray if positive.
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Background checks including criminal history, employment verification, and professional references.
- Driver’s license or state ID valid and matching address requirements.
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding.
- Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
- Annual updates required for many credentials and screenings.
Additional Notes
- Clinical skills checklist required within one year of start and updated annually.
- Some optional onboarding checklists may be requested by unit leadership.
- All documentation must be current and compliant prior to assignment start.
This position is suitable for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs comfortable working night shifts in a specialty Ortho/Neuro unit with a moderate patient ratio. Compliance with detailed credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory.
