Surgery Tech - Colorado (Golden)

Job Summary

• Perform various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure.
• Function under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and report to Surgical Services management.
• Support surgical operations initiatives and participate in the surgical operations safety plan.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accountability for operating room and surgical items sterilization.
• Maintain the sterile field and ensure a safe environment.
• Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgeon during procedures within the scope of practice.
• Identify emergency situations and respond appropriately.
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
• At least 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience.
• Experience supporting surgeries within a surgical team.
• Experience in life support situations related to surgical care.
• Experience in supervision within surgical services.
• Preferred: Clinical experience in an accredited hospital.

Education

• High school diploma or GED,
  OR
• Graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months,
  OR
• Two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years,
  OR
• Training in the US military as a surgical technologist.

Certifications & Licensure

• Valid Surgical Technologist license in Colorado.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (8:30 PM to 7:00 AM).
• No on-call or weekend shifts required.
