Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description
- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department following clinical protocols, safety standards, and quality improvement guidelines.
- Assess patient conditions, document changes, and communicate critical updates to the interdisciplinary team for coordinated care.
- Accurately execute physician and nursing orders while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety best practices.
- Collaborate on discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care.
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (Ascension Specialty Exam, EKG Exam, Core Competencies).
- Annual updates and re-certifications as required for certifications and competencies.
- Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment.
- Verification of current nursing license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days prior to start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Health and immunization documentation including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive, annual questionnaire)
- Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Completion of onboarding modules and attestations including Cerner test-out and nursing contract worker onboarding.

- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address on file.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
- Facility-specific checklists and optional documents may be requested but are not mandatory for onboarding.
This position offers a 13-week long-term assignment in an Emergency Room setting with a night shift schedule, requiring comprehensive certifications and compliance with health and safety standards.
