Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER) – Travel/Contract

Location

  • Columbus, Ohio

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours per week, totaling 36 hours/week)
  • Weekend rotation: every other or every third weekend

Patient Ratio

  • Approximately 1 nurse to 3.5 patients

Job Description

  • Work in an Emergency Room setting with exposure to:
    • Triage
    • Dysrhythmia interpretation
    • Emergency medications
    • Procedural sedation
    • Ventilated patients
    • Trauma cases
    • Psychiatric holds
    • Pediatric emergency care
  • Experience with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication system
  • Float assignments required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association
    • ACLS
    • PALS issued by American Heart Association
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Experience with procedural sedation

Orientation and Training

  • 36 hours of orientation provided
  • Unit-specific competency exams required, including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of ethics, compliance, dress code, and hand hygiene policies

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Navy scrubs provided
  • Parking options available with varying costs and shuttle services (details not included per instructions)

Travel Experience

  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
