Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery RN (Night Shift)
Location: Anderson, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description / Required Skills
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Nursing
- Certifications required:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN, Relias, or equivalent within past 2 years if not covered on competency exam)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Basic and Advanced (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics)
- Additional skills:
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring
- Neonatal resuscitation knowledge
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
- Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advanced certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Fetal Monitoring
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Valid Driver's License
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Signed assignment agreement prior to onboarding
- Completion of multiple Ascension-specific onboarding requirements including:
- Specialty exam
- Pharmacology exam
- Core competencies
- Color vision test
- Badge photo (forward-facing, white or blue background, no alterations)
- Nursing contract worker onboarding (done onsite)
- Education attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Health and immunization documentation:
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine: Optional, but mask required if declined during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, chest x-ray if positive, annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be done onsite)
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Background checks and verifications:
- Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG, National Sex Offender Registry (within 90 days)
- EPLS check (within 90 days)
- Employment verification for past 7 years
- Education verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days)
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required
- Contract length is 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
- Night shift hours are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- All certifications must be current and from recognized organizations (AHA, American Academy of Pediatrics, etc.)
- Compliance with all onboarding and health requirements is mandatory before starting the assignment
