    Description

    Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Position

    Location: Santa Cruz, California
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    • Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments independently according to physician-developed treatment plans.
    • Deliver safe, precise procedures with sound clinical judgment and effective patient communication.
    • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
    • May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.
    • Shift start times flexible between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Radiation Therapy)
    • Must have experience with Elekta, Mosaiq, and AlignRT systems.

    Required Certifications & Licenses

    • ARRT (Radiation Therapist) certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Valid California State License for Radiation Therapist

    Work Schedule

    • Day shifts, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (either 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 12:00 PM–8:00 PM)
    • Total 40 hours per week

    Background & Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
    • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
    • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
    • References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates.

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
    • Immunizations and/or titers required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
      • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or signed declination
      • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
      • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 30) or signed declination
    • Drug testing and respiratory safety clearance required prior to start.

    Additional Requirements

    • Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
    • TB screening questionnaire must be completed and signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
    • Candidates requesting religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and obtain approval.

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Valid Radiation Therapist license in California
    • Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
    • ARRT (Radiation Therapist) certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
