ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Critical Care Registered Nurse role in an ICU setting.
• Must have a minimum of 18 months recent ICU experience.
• Must have 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam required during orientation with passing scores.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS and ACLS required prior to start; renew if expiring within 30 days of start.
• Facility baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed at orientation.
• Other certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) not required for this ICU role.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Comprehensive background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search required before start; must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
• Nursys verification within 30 days of start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Tdap vaccine required every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive TB history.
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative or equivocal.
• Hepatitis B immunity or declination documentation required.
• Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative or equivocal.
• Annual flu vaccination required during flu season (no declinations accepted).
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Documentation & Onboarding

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
• Resume/CV with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical acute care experience.
• Two professional references from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Annual skills checklist required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since last assignment at the same health system may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
• Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask may be considered with proper documentation and approval.
