Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Facility Overview

  • Emergency Department with 32 beds
  • Trauma level: Not formally designated, but receives all traumas
  • Patient population: Birth to death (all ages)
  • Patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:5
  • Equipment: Critical care equipment
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Cerner
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
  • Weekend hours: Rotate every other weekend
  • Call requirements: Variable, depending on census
  • Float requirements: Assist in other areas where competent

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment
  • Familiarity with stroke, STEMI, and trauma cases
  • Strong critical care thinking skills
  • Ability to provide excellent patient and family experience
  • Energetic and knowledgeable personality fit

  • Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not acceptable
  • Orientation dates available: June 22 or July 20

Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel.
