Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Illinois, Freeport

Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift with on-call rotation
• Hours: 9-10 hour shifts, approximately 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Rotating shifts to cover late discharges; schedule posted 4 weeks in advance for 6 weeks; no self-scheduling
• Call Requirements:

  • Approximately one weeknight call per week
  • 24-hour call Friday night
  • Weekend call every 5th weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
  • Holiday on-call coverage
  • Call response time: 20 minutes
• Orientation: 1-2 weeks department-specific orientation with preceptor
• Floating: Not required
• Scrubs: Provided

Work Environment

• 4 operating suites plus 2 minor procedure rooms and an OB C-section room
• Average 15-20 cases per day
• Common cases include general surgery, orthopedic totals and minor cases, ENT, urology, gynecology, C-sections, and podiatry
• EMR system: Meditech
• Charge Nurse role available (OR Charge RN)
• OR techs support available

Required Qualifications

• Illinois RN license required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA)
• Experience: Preferably 2-5 years of relevant OR experience; less experience considered for strong candidates
• Prior travel experience preferred (seasoned traveler)
• Cataracts surgery experience preferred but not required
• Scrubbing as an RN is not required but considered a plus

This position is suited for experienced OR nurses seeking a 13-week travel contract with a structured day shift and on-call rotation in a busy surgical environment.
