Job Opportunity: MRI Tech
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Work setting includes Inpatient, Emergency Room, and Outpatient cases.
- Shift: Monday to Thursday, 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM (4 days of 10 hours each).
- No on-call required.
- Floating within scope to other buildings on campus is expected.
- Daily caseload varies.
Facility Highlights
- Teaching hospital with Magnet designation and Level 1 Trauma center.
- Total staffed beds: 865.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Parking: Paid parking at night and weekends; one-time $20 parking pass fee.
- Scrub color: Teal top, black bottom.
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
- Siemens MRI experience required.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted.
- MR certification: ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT required.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required.
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts may be accepted as placeholders.
- Background check within 1 year including: SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable.
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers.
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps.
- Color blind testing required prior to start.
- Competency exams required as applicable.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form).
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low/negative).
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low/negative).
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination).
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form. COVID vaccine records must be uploaded.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption accepted; documentation must be uploaded by deadline.
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) must be completed before starting; failure to complete results in being sent home.
- First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay platform access provided after clearance.
- Passport-style badge photo required by Wednesday before start date.
- Travelers must upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into the facility’s system.
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: 60 miles. Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- All required documents and certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start.
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
