Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Columbia, South Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call Requirement: Yes, 2 twelve-hour shifts within a 6-week period
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AWHONN Beginner
- AWHONN Intermediate
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Schedule Flexibility
- Block scheduling possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
Equipment and Systems
- Scrubs provided (navy surgical scrubs)
- Charting system: Epic
- Medication system: Omnicell
- Free parking with pass provided at start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam within 90 days of start, cleared to work without restrictions
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Annual respirator medical clearance required (RespSafety questionnaire)
Background and Verification
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN trace
- County, state, national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3
- Employment and education verification
- Primary source verification of RN license required
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
- Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the same unit
Documentation and Onboarding
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- Facility-specific documents and modules must be completed prior to start, including:
- Job description acknowledgment
- Confidentiality and security agreement
- Contractor forms
- ID badge photo (passport-style, solid light background, frontal view)
- Orientation modules (~2 hours, to be completed on a computer)
- First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay platform access provided after clearance
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
- Radiation badge required only if assigned to units with radiation exposure (not required for Labor and Delivery RN)
Additional Notes
- Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
- Facility allows for 60-mile local radius for travel candidates
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers accepted
