Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – 3B Cardiology/IMC
Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/Night rotating
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Unit Overview
- 34-bed unit: 28 cardiac-based medical floor beds and 6 Intermediate Medical Care (IMC) beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary: typically 1:4 or 1:5 on general floor, 1:3 when caring for IMC patients
- Cardiology/IMC team includes a charge nurse on day shifts to support primary nurses
- Patient diagnoses include CHF, pacemaker placements, PCIs, TAVRs, heart caths, atrial fibrillation with RVR, BiPAPs, heated high flow nasal cannula, and various medication drips (insulin, amiodarone, heparin)
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain provider orders and perform general nursing duties
- Procedures include chest tube insertions, foley catheter insertion, titrating medications such as low-dose pressors (IMC patients)
- Competency required in central line care, chest tubes, foley catheters, tracheostomy care, heparin and insulin drips, angiograms, post-pacemaker and post-TAVR care
- Use of equipment: EPIC charting system, Omnicell medication dispensing, Alaris IV pumps, and central monitoring systems
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of cardiology nursing experience with demonstrated competency in specified procedures and care
- Current North Dakota RN license or compact state RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications, both must be American Heart Association (AHA) approved
Additional Information
- Must badge in and out at the facility
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
- Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
- Local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles are not accepted for this assignment
Schedule & Orientation
- Rotating day and night shifts
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- Unit provides specific orientation and ongoing support through the cardiology/IMC team and charge nurse assistance on day shifts
