Description

Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (either day or night shifts). Shifts may rotate as needed to meet operational demands.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Stepdown experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
  • Current certifications required:
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS
    • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with annual updates as applicable
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year, updated as needed.

Background and Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Comprehensive background check including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually. Must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start date, from supervisors or managers (no co-worker references).

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Modules include safety, medication administration, and ECG interpretation preparation materials.
  • Baseline competency exams on medication administration and ECG interpretation during orientation; passing scores required.
  • Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous assignment at the facility may be exempt from some orientation requirements.

Additional Notes

  • Progressive Care Unit experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Candidates must be prepared for variable shifts and floating to related units as needed.
  • Prior travel experience is accepted but not explicitly required.
