Registered Nurse (Cardiac Med/Surg 2) - Night Shift

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 36 hours per week (3 twelve-hour shifts)

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team, managing and delivering patient care through the nursing process. Focus on cardiac medical/surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
• Develop and modify individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Implement evidence-based nursing interventions to achieve patient outcomes.
• Evaluate and document patient progress continuously throughout the shift.
• Perform patient bedside lab testing and specimen collection following provider orders and lab policies.
• Troubleshoot and demonstrate technical knowledge of medical equipment.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and collaborate with team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Prioritize work based on patient condition changes and assignment turnover.
• Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Promote patient and staff safety, including appropriate use of lift equipment.
• Provide goal-focused shift reports and participate in effective communication and teamwork.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet patient/family age-specific needs and comprehension levels.
• Demonstrate professional accountability and pursue ongoing self-development.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 3 years of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
