Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. Ensure patient safety and quality care within the unit’s scope of service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all unit-specific nursing duties and responsibilities.
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement and modify nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Administer medications following the "5 Rights": right patient, medication, route, dose, and time.
• Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
• Ensure patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation protocols, and safe ambulation.
• Conduct hourly rounding and respond promptly to patient call lights.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to coordinate care and promote patient safety.
• Facilitate efficient admission, discharge, and testing processes for patients.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude to support a healthy work and healing environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Additional Information

• Night shift hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Contract duration is approximately 13 weeks.
