Physical Therapist (Outpatient) - Travel/Contract

Location: Cades, South Carolina
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Weekend requirement: No
  • On-call requirement: No
  • Holiday requirement: Possibly
  • May need to float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in South Carolina required at contract start
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year
  • Experience in an outpatient setting required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA or ARC only)

Facility & Work Environment

  • Hospital-based outpatient rehab unit (not on hospital campus)
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub color: Charcoal gray
  • Free parking available
  • Local radius: 60 miles (locals not accepted)
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including national and state criminal checks, sex offender registry, and international searches
  • Employment application/resume and proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start required
  • Education verification not required for this facility
  • Work history verification not required for this facility

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold; chest X-ray if positive)
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion required
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID vaccines not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or a declination form completed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); documentation must be uploaded by deadline
  • Respirator medical clearance annually required for patient-facing travelers

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC only) required
  • Other certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) not required for this position unless specified by unit/job description
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Competency exam required

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules required prior to start; estimated 2-6 hours depending on location
  • Passport-style photo for badge required
  • Signed documents prior to start: Assignment Acknowledgment, Code of Conduct, Employee Confidentiality Agreement, HR Policy Manual, Systems User Agreement, User Access Request, Job Description, HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • COVID and flu vaccine documentation must be uploaded into the facility’s system (OurDay)
  • Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November), especially August and September
