Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job - Santa Cruz, California

Job Summary

• Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments independently according to physician-developed treatment plans.
• Deliver safe, precise procedures with sound clinical judgment and effective patient communication.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
• May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.
• Shift start time flexible between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
• Work schedule: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (either 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 12:00 PM–8:00 PM).
• Contract length: 13 weeks.

Required Experience & Skills

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology.
• Must have experience with Elekta, Mosaiq, and AlignRT systems.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in California.
• Radiation Therapist with at least 1 year of experience.
• Radiation Therapist experience within the last year.
• ARRT T certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check covering all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Work history verification required for up to 7 years.
• References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied positions.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
• TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD testing with annual renewal.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years).
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR vaccines or positive titers).
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination.
  • Varicella (chickenpox) immunity or vaccination.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 30) or signed declination.
• Color vision exam by licensed healthcare provider prior to start.
• Respiratory safety clearance required and renewed annually.
