Job Opportunity: Cath Lab RN

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM


Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • Assess, prepare, and position patients for procedures.
  • Perform conscious sedation and hemodynamic monitoring as necessary.
  • Prepare, implement, and document plan of care.
  • Communicate patient’s condition to physician before, during, and after procedures.
  • Perform and/or facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures.
  • Set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum of 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • Specialty: RN Cath Lab
  • Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume entry-level to experienced RN Cath Lab nurse.
  • No prior travel experience required.

Onboarding and Credentialing Requirements

  • Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment.
  • Current nursing license verification and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Driver’s license or state ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements).
  • Completion of specialty competency exams and skills checklists prior to or shortly after start, including:
    • Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years).
    • Core competencies exam covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc. (updated every 3 years).
    • EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years).
    • Cerner test-out and training checklist.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestations and modules specific to nursing contingent workers.
  • Health and immunization documentation including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
    • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or history; no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine (optional; exemptions accepted with mask requirement during flu season).
    • Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes, chest x-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire.
    • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
    • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Drug screening: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, national sex offender registry, and other required checks within 90 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days prior to start, updated annually.

  • Optional: Unit-specific checklist and badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations).
  • Contract length is 13 weeks.
  • Shift is day shift, approximately 10.5 hours.
