Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 PM - 5:00 AM)
- Schedule includes:
- (2) Weekend night shifts (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing) every 6 weeks
- Holiday call: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday shift (8 or 12 hours) every 6 weeks
- Floating may be required to GI unit or Surgery Center
- Preferred experience in scrub and circulate roles
- Charting system used: Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Pass/Fail Basic Dysrhythmia Exam during orientation (one attempt only)
- NIH Stroke Certification (or equivalent accepted)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start date
- Fit test (3M 1870+ mask) within 12 months prior to start; must be completed before start
- Current Tdap vaccine or titer
- Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; chest X-ray if positive test
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers for: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with exemptions for candidates born before 1957)
- 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-Apr)
- COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions accepted with masking requirements
Background and Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check including PA PATCH search (required for PA placements)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification (official transcript acceptable; diploma not accepted)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start (if applicable)
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting within 12 months of start (required for PA placements)
- Two professional references within 2 years of start
- Work history verification as applicable
Additional Information
- Orientation includes completion of safety and competency modules prior to start (approx. 6 hours)
- Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual and pass/fail testing required
- Facility-specific photo required for badge issuance
