Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)
Location
- Marquette, Michigan (Central region of Michigan's Upper Peninsula)
- Largest community in the peninsula
- Facility is a 225-bed specialty care hospital with multiple specialty centers including Heart & Vascular, Cancer, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, and Pediatrics.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit: Observation Unit (10 beds)
- Patient Population: Adults only (18+ years)
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 (no defined ratios)
- Shift: 5 days on / 5 nights on, 12-hour shifts
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours per pay period (0.9 FTE)
- Weekend and holiday work required
- Call: No mandated call requirements
- Float Requirements: Yes, float to Medical, Cardiac, Neuro-Ortho units
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
- Equipment: Cardiac monitor
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) competency
Job Responsibilities & Common Diagnoses
- Care for patients meeting observation status criteria, including but not limited to:
- Chest pain
- Asthma exacerbations
- Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
- Abdominal pain
- Urinary issues
- Blood sugar issues
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) / Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
- Cellulitis
- Post-procedural monitoring
- Minor trauma
Orientation & Work Environment
- Orientation offered bi-weekly
- Dress Code: Galaxy blue scrubs
- Attendance Policy:
- Second absence results in a formal warning
- Third absence may result in contract termination unless prior agreement is made
- All absences must be made up to maintain contracted hours
- No guarantee on block scheduling

- No early termination fees will be covered if contract ends due to just cause (e.g., attendance or professional conduct issues).
